As Gavin was met with the image and voice, he couldn't help but smirk. But he retreated from his trance, returning to reality. When he finally opened his eyes, he let out a sigh. He was rather surprised that the Machines had set up a means of detecting if they were being watched. From what he saw, it was difficult to tell if what he saw was machine or beast, or even truly part of the Machines. It also made it hard discerning whether or not the Machines were actually aware they were being gazed upon and if this was just a means to deter the enemy. No matter the case, it fulfilled its purpose as Gavin decided it was best to back away.

Standing to his feet, he made his way outside and leaned against the door as he gazed out into the forest. He let the songs of the Falcor and Gavyn fill his head as he sought to clear his mind. It was clear now that if any information was to be gathered, one would have to go to Raxus Prime and risk being killed or worse to gather any intel. He could have attempted to keep prodding, but there was no telling what could have happened. Something connected back to him which could have turned into a war of the minds. With no understanding of what he saw, he wasn't about to challenge it and lose the battle.

He also didn't want to give them reason to come to Naza. He was confident in the planet's ability to repel them should they come. However, if it couldn't, there was another way to eliminate them permanently. But it was an option he didn't want to run with. He had influenced the planets before to form a shield around Naza Minor to keep others out when he attempted to fight Medrike. But if need be, he could channel and focus all that power through him. It would grant him near limitless power for short amount of time making him far more powerful than any in the galaxy, including Medrike, Kurayami, and Miko combined. With that power, he could erase the Machines if they came. He knew it could be done as Raze and Reverence had channeled the power of their respective planets in the fight against each other.

But the cost had already been revealed then. The power of the planets were greatly weakened and the two died. But that was with a single planet. To use both would do more than kill him, it would erase him completely. There wouldn't be a return this time, or even a joining with the Force. At the very least, it would use all the power and life of both planets, leaving them weak and a normal type of planet with only a chance that the power and life would return with time. At the worse, it would destroy the Naza system and all the lives on it. That would defeat the purpose of using the power as the power could only extend so far passed Naza's orbit. It would burn out if he left for another world and couldn't be used to do something so far away. In the end, with was an option that had no purpose in the end. Only if something needed to be erased no matter the cost was this approach to be used. In all of history, there had never been such a time.

Turning from the door, he sighed and went to the bedroom again. Night had fallen and he was a little fatigued. There was no point thinking upon the Machines further at the moment. Best now to rest before returning to Coruscant tomorrow.

There was still a lingering connection, enough for the creature to leave one last imprint before it faded away, like a hunter stalking prey. It would feel as if the creature could have popped into the room at any moment, until the feeling of its presence left. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX9-OzwJSgc

In the depths of his sleep, Gavin felt the presence he had met while using Shadow Speak. It wasn't an after thought or anything of memory, but a live connection still in his mind. In the darkness he stood there, eyes casually gazing around. Over the years, Gavin senses had heightened enough that even while resting and in the deepest of sleeps, he was aware, both in the dream and in reality. In his dreams, he would have been fully prepared to face this creature. Had it appeared in the hut, his body would have reacted naturally and shimmered away until he could fully wake. The years of wilderness training, being in the open and vulnerable to attack at any moment aided him. What was more was that with the last bits of training he had done to fine tune his connection to the Shadows was he was immune to illusions and dreams. Yes, he could still see them and be caught in them, but he'd be able to see through them and find his way out. While he had no intention of making Jester or Iris Shadows, he would train them so that they, too, could see through them so to better face the Shadows.

Waking easily from his sleep, he sat up and looked around in the darkness. The presence had now faded completely, but he couldn't help but let out a sigh. There was no telling if the creature could easily connect to his mind again or if Gavin would have to reach out like before, but he couldn't risk his mind being read. Closing his eyes, he began to focus his mind, hardening it. It had been so long since he felt the need to use this technique, as he was well adept at keeping people out or redirecting their influence. But now he needed his mind to be sealed away, a wall that couldn't be penetrated, fueled by his will. The Iron Wall technique was something he had learned from the Jen'Jidai on Zonoma Sekot years ago. It had been a difficult skill to master, but after a decade or so, he finally had. Now it was time to once again utilize it. It would keep his mind hidden and locked away from anyone. That also meant that none could contact him through the Force, and neither could he. he just hoped in his moments of sleep when the skill would be in use that nothing terrible would suddenly happen.

The hours passed by peacefully enough and Gavin got the much needed rest he required. Whether it be mentally or physically, he was constantly finding some way to find some level of fatigue. While he could endure far more than anything he was doing outside of his training, he didn't want to run the risk that something would ensue that would take everything he had and it not be there. He wasn't about to let anything happen to himself, for the sake of the galaxy, the people preparing for the coming battles, his friends, and above all, Samantha.

Standing from his bed, he looked out of the window. He could barely see, but the light was there. It was quite the perfect timing, if he did say so himself. It meant that dawn was on the horizon. It would be brighter on the plains than in the forest, but he knew breakfast was being prepared in the village. Dressing himself, he shimmered away to join his people and to speak with Zaul about some things to come.
